Home Sweet Home

Here's a picture of Maranatha & I showing off our front door and entry way, complete with coat hooks, cabinets for shoes, and a "No Smoking" sign just to the left of our door. (Workers would often come into our house to work and we'd leave them doing their work in the bathroom or kitchen and then we'd start smelling smoke, and then I--Jessica--would start hurriedly using my limited language skills to ask them not to, that we have 3 children, a baby, etc. So, we decided to just let them know on the front end that we'd appreciate them not smoking in our apartment.)

A little out of season, here's a close-up of our little strawberry:

Hi Jessica
Is it cold there?

Hey Bobbie! Yes, the weather has definitely started changing to be more cold. Some days we have to wear layers (right now, just like a long-sleeved shirt and a nice warm jacket), and some days just a sweater or even a long-sleeved tee-shirt is sufficient. Over the next few weeks (definitely within a month), it's supposed to start getting more and more cold.

We enjoy the cold weather- but it definitely takes more time to get everybody out the door... when it gets really cold and we have to each wear 3-4 layers plus jackets, it can make it so we have to be ready 20-30 minutes in advance, just so we can start putting on our final layers and get everybody warm enough to get out the door.

It was like that when we first came in March and April, and now it's returning to that level of coldness.

Are you all around the same latitude as NY or other northern parts of the US? Because it's starting to get cold here too. (I LOVE IT!)

Maranatha is so beautiful - at first I thought she looked like Baxter, but in that last picture she looks a little like Ethan. She must just be a perfect blend of everybody.

Your apartment, or what you can see of it here, looks beautiful.

Yeah it is about on the same latitude as NY, Minnesota-- but in the mountains... so that makes a difference as to the depth of cold that it sinks to in winter. But it is about the same in these months. I love this type of weather... comfortable in long sleeves or a sweater, it's so nice and cool.

As for Maranatha, she has Ethan's big old smile, Baxter's nose and mouth area, blue eyes (so far- but so did Baxter until after 1 year... so we'll see), and a terrible little pout when she's sad. She is such a beautiful little delight.

People love this little strawberry hat on her. Everywhere I go, people will start smiling, point her out to a friend, ask how old she is, want to look at her, hold her hand, etc... so it's a hit. It cost about 2 dollars in Thailand- SO glad I bought it! :)
