Our "Neck o' the Woods"
Here are some photos from various places in or near our section of Istanbul:
Bakeries are in abundance (thus the reason Turks aren't as thin as the Chinese were!) :-)
Simit men are all around town, too--
these are similar to large soft pretzels with the tops coated in seeds
Mosques and minarets are everywhere (and we hear the call to prayer 5 times each day). Some of them are plain and nothing to look at, but some of them (particularly the ones that used to be churches) are especially beautiful.
I took this picture at a park we went to near the bridge that connects the European and Asian sides of Istanbul. This picture is taken from the Asian side, looking past a cargo barge to the European side.

I love it when you post pics of the area where you live. Since this is probably a place that I will never get to visit in my lifetime, visiting through you is the next best thing. =)
(btw...all of that bread looks WONDERFUL!!!)
so cool to see all the differences of your everyday life there vs. here. I love it:) By the way I couldn't help myself with the dog crate photo it was too good in a sick sort of way:)
