Introducing "Mei Mei"
Most families here have only one child. One thing that has come from that is that children refer to playmates as if they were siblings. Older playmates become "gege" (pronounced guh-guh, it means older brother) or "jiejie" (jee-uh-jee-uh, it means older sister), and younger ones become "didi" (dee-dee, younger brother) or "meimei" (may-may, it means younger sister).
Because Baxter couldn't exactly say 'Maranatha' three months ago (in fact, he still can't), he has taken to calling her "mei-mei". And it's starting to stick. I'll have to keep you posted as to what she ends up being called in the long run, but for right now, around our house, she is often referred to as "mei-mei". I wish I could link up a soundclip of Baxter saying it, but you'll just have to take my word for it- it is just about the cutest thing you could think of... Except for this:
And here's a shot of her looking up at her gege Ethan:
I'm so glad we have a gege, didi, and meimei. What a trio!
***After posting this picture of the 3 of them, I realized I needed to clear up a couple of things: 1-no, Baxter's right arm is not twice as long as his left--that's Doug's arm. and 2- no, meimei is not down inside a couch man-hole, trying to crawl out. :) ***

Oh my gracious. What a beautiful, beautiful, precious angel!!!!!! What a gorgeous smile she has! What a couch full of cuties! Love you, Nana
I like Mei-Mei -- I think it's a great nickname to hold on to.
Oh and by the way, "bubba" is still the term of endearment that Elam uses for his little brother Silas, even in Enland.
Oh my. They are quite precious, you guys! I love it - mei-mei. She's sure getting more beautiful by the day. It looks like her hair is lightening up, is that right? (Or just the photo?)
I think you may be right, Kim- but the jury's still out... maybe she'll go blonde like Ethan (he was dark-headed until 6 months or so)... but then Baxter's hair lightened up some too but then just stayed that highlight-filled brown color. So we'll see... :)
